Older Adults Counseling and Psychotherapy

Some therapists believe that older adults tend to be set in their ways and have difficulty responding to and implementing change. However, my experience working with older adults in outpatient psychotherapy, skilled nursing facilities, and rehabilitation centers leads me to a different conclusion. While older adults may have their established preferences and routines, they are open to making positive changes for the betterment of their lives. My work with older adults focuses on making such changes to better adapt to their environment and those around them.  Issues often encountered in my work with older adults generally include:

Grief and Loss - Estate planning – Depression - Adjustment to Physical Changes – Family Difficulties – Retirement – Loss of Cognitive Functioning – Social Isolation
